Organized by Marcano Maldonado Art Project
When: Miami Art Basel Week December 2-6,2015
Where: Spectrum Art Fair
The preference for certain colors over others are driven by three factors: architecture, nature and the people who enrich the culture. Manifest Project is an international installation that reflects the many different manifestations of color and the influences behind them. Combining the works of selected contemporary artists we create a dialogue that leaves us to consider “what drives the way colors and our lifestyles come together?”
The context within which color unfurls its rainbow of symbolism and emotion is part of the value this collective has as a whole. Since color is a fundamental element in the human experience, part of the project asks the artists to submit an essay on the influence of the piece. Using but one color to create their work; each monochromatic painting will come together to arrange an installation of pixels standing perhaps for a, time, moment or place. A Collective about color ends up being a collective about human experience itself.
After the feature exhibition during Art Basel Week 2015 in Spectrum Art Fair, the Manifest installation will be transported to Carlos Albizu University (Doral Campus) where it will remain on display until Spring 2016.
Carlos Albizu University (CAU) is a private non-profit university offering undergraduate and graduate studies in psychology, business, and education. It has two campuses: one in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and the other in Doral, Florida, near Miami. The Doctor of Psychology program in the Doral Campus is accredited by the American Psychological Association, and the University is licensed by the Commission for Independent Education of the State of Florida.
In December each year, thousands of international art collectors, gallery owners, dealers, curators and artists descend upon Miami for Art Basel Week. In the heart of Midtown Miami—alongside powerhouse art shows like Art Basel, Art Miami, Scope and Miami Project- Manifest Mosaic will be showcased in an elegant, gallery-style exhibition space.
